Non-diagnostic comprehensive assessment for 6 and 7 year olds
A non-diagnostic comprehensive assessment from a very highly qualified and experienced specialist might be just what you need if:
your child is aged 6 or 7 and therefore too young for a full diagnostic assessment according to our professional bodies
you'd like to know how your child is doing in a very wide range of areas (see below)
you're wanting an open conversation about whether evidence from the assessment suggests that referrals to other types of professionals are advisable and wishing to have referral letters from me
you're looking for more than the basic non-diagnostic dyslexia screenings I offer
How long does the assessment take and what does it involve?
Please read the page HERE about the assessment process.
The assessment is effectively the same as what I offer those aged 8+ as the same tests are conducted but it does not result in a formal diagnosis, due to being under the age advised by our professional bodies.
The assessment usually takes around 2 hours. I strive to make it feel really relaxed but I don't make it longer than it needs to be. Several of the kind testimonials from clients (which can be found HERE) refer to how much I pick up. It'll include standardised, age-appropriate tests exploring various aspects of literacy (such as early reading skills, word reading, decoding, fluency, speed and comprehension), maths problem solving skills, cognitive processing skills (including working memory, phonological awareness, processing speed, orthographic processing) and language skills (level of understanding and ability to express themselves). It'll also explore motor skills if difficulties are indicated in the family questionnaire and advice if there're concerns from the family and school linked to ADHD. Brief immmediate verbal feedback is offered and you'll receive a detailed and very practical report within 14 days which can be shared with schools, etc.
How much is the assessment and when do I pay?
The cost is £575 although a slight discount is offered where an assessment's already been conducted for someone in the same household or someone has already seen me. There's no additional fee for referral letters.
Regardless of who pays for the assessment, the report goes to those with parental responsibility for the child.
Family paying: A £75 non-refundable deposit is paid through the online booking system and I will send you this link once we've established that an assessment with me is the right way to go. The balance must be paid before or on the assessment date via cash, cheque, BACS or debit / credit card (via an emailed payment link). The balance can alternatively be paid in instalments (frequency and amount paid determined by you) as long as the full amount is paid by the assessment date.
Education providers: A payment agreement will be completed prior to the assessment taking place. An invoice is sent after the assessment and full payment is requested within 30 days.
Please see the very last FAQ HERE regarding my cancellation policy.
