Full diagnostic maths assessment including dyscalculia aged 8+

A maths assessment might be just what you need if:

  • you or your child finds maths tricky

  • you'd like to know whether you have dyscalculia which relates to very specific challenges or whether you have a 'specific learning difficulty in maths' that is a more common diagnosis than dyscalculia and can be just as impactful on life

  • you'd like a report that addresses a wide range of areas and offers practical strategies

How long does the assessment take and what does it involve?

These assessments take place only in person at my home in Crawley Down near East Grinstead in West Sussex.

Unless a full dyslexia assessment has already taken place, the assessments usually take around 2 hours (followed by brief immediate verbal feedback) and involve a wide range of standardised tests including: sequencing, perception estimation, number comparison, maths fluency, the language of maths, maths problem solving skills, written maths, verbal working memory, visual working memory and general language skills. Within 14 days, you'll receive a report that not only details the different tasks involved but also provides information about strategies being used at the assessment, my observations and practical recommendations.

Before the assessment takes place, I'll ask you to complete a questionnaire. For children, I ask that the school or college also completes a questionnaire and it can often help to see the latest school report

How much is the assessment and when do I pay?

The cost of this assessment is £575 which includes a £75 deposit at the time of booking and the balance payable no later than the assessment date.

Looking for a combined dyslexia and dyscalculia assessment? The combined cost is £1,000. Exploring all the required areas would make for a very long session so I strongly suggest that the combined assessment is completed over 2 separate dates which will require 2 x £75 deposits. For adults and young people in year 7+, we can complete the dyslexia part online and the maths part at my home as this needs to be conducted in person. To be written as a single report, all elements need to be conducted within 28 days.
